Community Gardening

Preparing to lay topsoil in St Stephen's south garden

We are committed to “greening” the urban core, and to sustainable urban agriculture. The church sees firsthand, every day, the effects of food insecurity and hunger in Toronto. Community gardens can’t solve this problem alone, but they can stand as a sign, showing forth in part our vision of a world where food is freely grown and freely shared.

The small gardens in the strips of land around the church currently host plants and seedlings donated by our members and friends, including herbs, tomatoes, broccoli and lettuce, as well as some ornamental plants and flowers. We are working on developing more of our available area for community gardening.

The video below (7’45”) comes to you courtesy of tdotgardener, who recently visited our community garden.
